The Moonvine is a three transistor germanium fuzz that incorporates high pass and low pass shelving controls in order to shape the tone and saturation of the fuzz circuit. I’ve also voiced the fuzz pot on this design so that the entire range is usable: the player can achieve mild rhythm fuzz, thick & gritty sustaining fuzz for leads, or fat & saturated old school MK2 Tonebender level of fuzz.
Because the Moonvine uses NPN transistors, you can run this on your pedalboard with no power issues.
The cases are powder coated in a silver-to-violet color shifting textured metallic finish. For the top plates, I’ve used a new finishing method which incorporates a pigmented clearcoat that gives a touch of blue & really contrasts nicely against the violet case and maroon knobs.
New Old Stock AC187 germanium transistors, carbon composition resistors in the audio path, and a combination of paper in oil, polyester film, and audio grade electrolytic Nichicon capacitors are used to achieve a balance of vintage warmth and clarity.
